Governor DeSantis Signs Texting While Driving Bill

Texting while driving will become a primary offense in Florida starting July 1st, meaning you could be pulled over and ticketed just for sending a short message.

The sheriff in Manatee County, Rick Wells, says parents of young drivers have to set a good example.

Governor Ron DeSantis says this is no joke.

Sheriffs across the state have pledged their deputies will be enforcing the new law aggressively.

Drivers will be allowed to use their phones for certain things like navigation, making phone calls, or when their car is stopped.

If you are in a school or work zone, drivers are not allowed to handle their phones with the exception of emergencies.
