Lightning Fall To Islanders 5-2

The Tampa Bay Lightning (6-5-2) fell to the New York Islanders (9-3-0) 5-2 on Friday night at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island.

The Islanders used a strong performance from Anders Lee, who had a goal and two assists, to set the pace. Mathew Barzal scored first in the second period, before Yanni Gourde answered to tied the game 1-1 at the 7:49 mark of the second period. From there, the Islanders took control, getting goals frim Ryan Pulock, Josh Bailey and Anders Lee to take a 4-1 lead midway through the third period. Though Ryan McDonagh scored to pull within 4-2, the Islanders got an empty net goal from Derick Brassard to clinch the 5-2 victory and the eight straight win for New York.

Andrei Vasilevskiy went 21-for-25 in net for the losing effort, while Thomas Greiss picked up the win converting 33 saves on 35 shots. Off the ice, the Devils acquired goalie Louis Domingue from the Lightning - he had been assigned to Syracuse. The Lightning now travel overseas to Sweden next week where they will begin a two game series with the Buffalo Sabres on Friday.
