Lightning Come Back To Stun Leafs 4-3

by : Jay Recher

The Lightning got some good news to start the day as tenacious forward Ondrej Palat returned to the lineup after missing 26 games with an upper-body injury.

The end of the day was pretty cool too.

The Bolts battled back from being down 3-0 late in the second period to defeat the visiting Maple Leafs 4-3 on Tuesday night at Amalie Arena.  Alex Killorn completed the comeback with a one-timer past Toronto goalie Fredrik Andersen 9:14 into the third.

Toronto opened the scoring late in the first when James van Riemsdyk found a loose puck in front of the net during a delayed penalty and beat a screened Andrei Vasilevskiy to give the Leafs the advantage. He roofed a backhand past the Lightning netminder just 89 seconds into the second period to double the lead.

Zach Hyman made the score 3-0 late in the second, but Victor Hedman scored just under a minute later to get the Bolts on the board and give the team some much-needed life heading to the third.

Ryan McDonagh scored his second goal as a member of the Lightning to cut the lead to one with a goal just 1:24 into the period and then Nikita Kucherov tied the score at three when a centering feed went off of Morgan Rielly's skate in front and past Andersen.

Vasilevskiy made 27 saves on 30 shots and Andersen stopped 21 of 25.
