Oklahoma Man Arrested With Wife's Dead Body in Passenger Seat

A 70-year-old Oklahoma man was arrested by Arizona police after they discovered a dead body in his car during a traffic stop along I-10.

According to a statement released by Eloy Police, Rodney Puckett, 70, was stopped for a traffic violation by Eloy Detective Adam Edmonds. While Edmonds was speaking with Rodney, he noticed the deceased woman sitting in the passenger seat.

The woman was identified as Puckett's wife, 74-year-old Linda Puckett.

"Rodney told detectives Linda died at a hotel in Texas during their trip. He moved her body into their vehicle, continuing toward their destination," the press release stated.

The statement did not indicate where Puckett and his wife had been heading on their road trip, only that they had been driving along Interstate 10 in Arizona.

The body was turned over to the Pinal County Medical Examiner's office who will investigate Linda Puckett's cause of death and whether it was a homicide. Police said the investigation was still in its early stages and would release more information when they knew more.

Rodney and Linda were reportedly married in 2011 and were in the process of getting a divorce. Linda had filed for the protective order and divorce on February 8, KNXV reported.

Rodney Puckett was booked into the Pinal County Jail on charges of Abandonment or Concealment of a body. Police say additional charges could be filed at a later date.
