Florida School Resource Officer Slams Disruptive Student To The Ground

Pasco County Sheriff’s Office has opened up an internal investigation after video of a school resource officer slamming a female student to the ground at Sunlake High School in Florida went viral. Cpl. Richard Stackon was called to the school's cafeteria because a female student who was skipping class was being disruptive.

Stackon walked into the cafeteria and asked the girl to step outside to talk with him. She refuses and after multiple requests, Stackon grabs her by the arm to remove her from the cafeteria.

“Now you are testing me. Come on outside and talk to me and I won’t have to lay a hand on you,” he is heard saying. “You are now disrupting everything that is going on.”

The girl resists and appears to move toward the officer. He then slams her to the ground and places her in handcuffs.

“Don’t f---- give me your s---,” he tells her. “The h--- is going on with you guys? Is this what I have to do every f---- day now?”

Sheriff Chris Nocco defended the actions of his officer. During a press conference on Wednesday, he released body camera footage from the incident and said Stockon "did what he had to do to defuse the situation." Stockon was removed from the school during the investigation but is expected to return to his duties.

He was asked about the language Stockon used as he slammed the girl to the ground and said, "If teenagers and children in schools believe they have more authority than the teachers, the principal, administrators, and the school resource officers, we're in a lot more trouble than we think we are."

Nocco said that officers went to the girls home and discussed the incident with her family.

The student faces charges of campus disruption, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.
