President Trump Rips Democrats For Playing "Shutdown Politics"

The morning after the Senate failed to reach a compromise to fund the government President Trump slammed Democrats in a series of tweets.  His first tweet cast the blame on the Democrats saying they "are far more concerned with Illegal Immigrants than they are with our great Military or Safety at our dangerous Southern Border." He said "they could have easily made a deal but decided to play Shutdown politics instead."

Democrats are far more concerned with Illegal Immigrants than they are with our great Military or Safety at our dangerous Southern Border. They could have easily made a deal but decided to play Shutdown politics instead.  in order to power through mess!

In a second tweet Trump then joked that the "Democrats wanted to give me a nice present" on the one year anniversary of being sworn in as President.

Trump then explained "the Republicans only have 51 votes in the Senate, and they need 60." He then made a call to elect more Republicans in 2018, so "we can then be even tougher on  Crime (and Border), and even better to our Military & Veterans!"

A few hours later, Trump tweeted again, accusing Democrats of "holding our Military hostage."

Vice President Mike Pence called the shutdown unacceptable and disappointing to millions of Americans. He blamed Senate Democrats who chose to put politics ahead of the national defense and ahead of meeting the obligations of the national government.

The shutdown could be short-lived, and could be open by Monday. According to The Hill, hite House Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney, said he believes Congress will reach a spending deal within the next 24 hours.
